In RemembranceFor there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all. (1 Timothy 2:5-6) Memorial Day Sacrificing Savior, at the end of the first World War, people gave thanks for the peace which had been won in the “war to end all wars.” They knew that humanity had learned its lesson; they thought we would remember the terrible cost. They were wrong. People forget. We forgot the sacrifice. We forgot the cost. Dear Lord, help us gratefully remember those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy, and help us be mindful of the ongoing sacrifices being made by military men and women. Most of all, let us remember Your sacrifice and the battle You won to secure our salvation. You fulfilled the laws we had broken, resisted the temptations that tripped us up, and died the death we deserved. Lord, for the only true victory over death may we always be grateful. Amen. Dear friends, Many men and women lost their lives fighting for the freedoms that we enjoy today. Our country has set aside this day for us to remember those who have paid the ultimate price. There is another memorial that we also remember. One man paid the price for us all. He gave his one life, so that all would live in freedom from sin, death, and from every evil. Unlike those who graves we visit with flowers and flags, his grave is empty. God rewarded his sacrifice with the gift of eternal life which He given to all who trust in him. May the Living Lord who gave the ultimate sacrifice for every one of us, continue watch over our military men and women who serve our country, and provide for their families. Truly thankful, Pastor Langdon Reinke P.S. Hope you and your family are healthy and safe. We are in this together. We have help available if there are needs. Please let us know. |
